About Mary Louise Garcia
Mary Louise Garcia was sworn in as County Clerk on January 1, 2011, her first term as an elected official. Before joining the county in 2002 as a senior administrator in the Sheriff’s Department, she owned the Garcia Group, a public relations firm serving a variety of businesses, nonprofits and political clients.
For her success in public relations, the Fort Worth Business Press honored
Mary Louise with its annual 40 Under 40 Award.
Garcia and her 140 employees manage and protect millions of official records of life’s personal and business transactions for the county’s 1.8 million citizens – everything from birth certificates and marriage licenses to deeds for houses and other properties as well as oil and gas records, death certificates, powers of attorney and a multitude of other personal and business documents.
They also provide administrative support to 15 courts, maintaining records for criminal and civil cases as well as files for probated estates. Her office is Tarrant County’s second largest generator of fees.
Born and educated in Fort Worth, Mary Louise Garcia grew up in a strong, tightly-knit family that instilled in her the value of conservative principles, faith, hard work and the importance of giving back to the community.
She has always been active in civic organizations, volunteer groups, schools and churches to help make Fort Worth a better place to live and work. She has served on numerous boards, including:
- All Church Home for Children
- The Fort Worth School District’s Human Relations Committee
- Cook Children’s Physical Fitness Fair
- Ad hoc committee member of Crime Prevention Resource Center and Tarrant County Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA).
She is also is a member of:
- Fort Worth Republican Women
- Tarrant Star Republican Women Club
- Fort Worth Rotary Club
- Northeast Leadership Forum
Mary Louise and her husband, Chris Garcia, an independent businessman, are volunteers and parishioners at Holy Family Catholic Church. They have two daughters, Juliana, a sophomore at Cornell University in New York, and Gabriella, a freshman at Texas State University in San Marcos.
